The School of Open Learning and Continuing Education (SOLACE) was established on 1st May, 2005 at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST). Open Learning and Continuing Education is characterized by flexibility in admission requirements, age, programme location, class times, pedagogic systems, delivery methods and learner interest and experiences.
The main thrust of SOLACE is therefore to expand enrollment and to increase access by providing opportunities for both professionals and non-professionals to acquire and keep abreast with new knowledge and skills in order to enhance their upward academic mobility , capacity building, enhance the quality of life and contribute to personal and national development.
SOLACE is managed through a SOLACE BOARD. The membership of the board consists of all chairmen of departments that offer Diploma, Certificate as well as Short-course programmes.
